THE ONE MINUTE SMOKY EYE.
Useful if you can bear to leave the house this month and/or are attending any element of awards season in LA.
Make-up artist Virna Baillie has worked with such celebrities as Suranne Jones and – more importantly, we’ve worked together on masses of shoots where she makes real women look like supermodels, and I run around fetching coffee and booking cabs.
I am disappointed with my eyes at the moment. There is a whole brow drooping, skin sagging thing going on, with my lids turning reptilian wrinkly. Not everyone is going half woman half lizard with the passing years (plus I exaggerate loads), but here’s a great way to make your eyes look larger and swiftly sultry.
GET THE LOOK:
Use a little primer on the eyes, curl lashes and conceal dark circles using a creamy concealer. Then dust translucent powder under the eye to catch any loose eyeshadow.
Blend darker shadow along the lash line on the top lid into the crease line so you’re making a v shape in the corner of your eye.
Then apply some shadow to bottom lash line. You don’t have to use brown or black – try grey or gold.
Cover the lid with a gold, cream or taupe, with a plum or darker grey in the V shape.
Once it’s applied, blend through, shading back over the eyelid.
TOP TIP: You don’t have to buy loads of new products for this sort of thing. Most of it can be achieved with one, simple eye shadow palette and whatever mascara you have lying around. Using primer and concealer will simply enhance the look and make it last longer.
